IMPENETRABLE HEDGE.
“Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has?” (Job 1:10).
Job went through a hard time of trial of faith characterised by a series of affliction, gruesome calamities one after the other in quick succession. All of these though executed by Satan, but permitted by God with a limit to how far Satan could go on Job.
God vouched for Job regarding his sterling qualities, He prided in him before Satan saying “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” (Job 1:8). Satan responded to God, “Yes, but I can’t touch him. You’ve put a hedge around his life”. He consequently dared God to remove the hedge and see if Job would not deny Him.
It must be understood from what Satan said here that the enemy can’t do as they wish to you unless God permits it; enemy’s evil arrows, deadly missiles can’t reach you as long as a divine hedge is over you. May we not do anything that will cause the hedge of God around us to become penetrable to the enemy.
Beloved, times will come in our walk of faith with God when our faith will be put on trial like it happened to Job. God knew that come what may, Job would not let him down. Can God vouch for you, can He pride in you? Will you like Job not buckle when the trial gets tough, rough and seemingly unbearable? Will you be able to resist the urge to sin or charge God falsely? If Job could, by the grace of God you can!
To pass the test of faith takes grace above other things. God will endow us the needed grace and the grace will be sufficient for us to stand tall during the trial of our faith; may we not deny Jesus like Peter; we will not betray Him like Judas. God so help us in the name of Jesus. Amen and Amen God bless you. SHALOM.
