DAY 23 OF 2024 P&F/LENTEN PROGRAM.

Topic: In this end-times, nothing shall separate us from the love of God.
Texts: Romans 8:35.

EXPOSITION:

The End-Times that we are presently going through in the world is a perilous time characterised by unimaginable happenings! In Matt. 24 where Jesus was speaking to the disciples on the signs of the End-Times, He said in verse 12, “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will wax cold.”

The love of many has indeed continued to wax cold! We continue to see and hear about erstwhile vibrant Christians being separated from the love of God, backsliding, and denying faith. There are cases of ministers of God who have down tool and have quitted the pulpit for other less honourable vocations because of frustration and demoralisation. May God avert this from happening to us.

The world is getting more ungodly, depraved, perverse, and crooked. In verse 13 of that same Matthew 24, Jesus said something that we should note, He said, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” May He strengthen us to the end.

This is the focus of our prayer today, that God will grant us the enabling and sustaining grace and the strength to endure the abominable, obscene things that are happening; that none of these things will separate us from the love of God. We are to endure, but not be compromised by these things. We are to ensure that our first love for God does not become lukewarm but rather remains hot for Him.

Like Paul was persuaded, and avowed in Romans 8:38-39, so should we be persuaded, be resolute that “neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Would taking this stance be easy? Certainly not! But with determined heart, and the influence the indwelling Holy Spirit, we can do it. Moreso when we remember the glorious reward that’s waiting for us at the end. Paul speaks concerning this thus: “For I consider that the sufferings (tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril sword etc.), of this present time are worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

The grace to endure and persevere to the end, we receive it this season and it shall be permanent with us in the name of Jesus. Amen. God bless you. SHALOM.
