‘The Beginning of the End’
“The end of a thing is better than its beginning; The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” (Ecclesiastes 7:8).
Indeed, this day is the beginning of the end; not the end of our lives, but rather the end of this year; a year in which a lot of ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ stuffs have happened. Utmost thanks, appreciation and gratitude to God Most High who has preserved us unscathed till now. Standing on His unfailing word as captioned by today’s textual source, I declare this end of the year shall be a good ending for all of us in the name of Jesus.
Similar to Ecclesiastes 7:8 is Job 8:7 which says: “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.” Implying that some things may not have fallen through yet for you this year, but you should not give up hope yet, because even within this remaining thirty and one days, God of suddenly can still make it happen that this later end of the year will yield abundantly for you.
The incident precedent to the text in 2 Kings 7:1 comes to relevance here. A particular city was in a situation of severe famine occasioned by a siege laid on that city by their enemies. But divine intervention came; Elisha, God’s prophet said, ‘Tomorrow about this time, the famine would end and there would be abundance of food.’ What a good radiance this was!
The same God of that time is God till now and forever will be. The sudden turnaround He made happen to these people, He can, and in His mercy will make it happen to you so much so that you’ll be wondering whether you are in a dream. I pray, the end of this year shall be better than the beginning and the middle of it for you and for me in all ramifications; crown of blessings will cap this year for us in the name of Jesus. Amen and Amen.
