EASTER SUNDAY.

Topic: ‘The truth prevailed’
Text: “So, when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God!” (Matt. 27:54).

Exposition:

On this day, some 2000 years ago, the crucified Christ arose from the dead to the joy of His followers, to the shame of Satan, and ultimately to utmost the glory of God. The truth which Jesus stood for, which His detractors could not tolerate but instead tried to suppress eventually prevailed. Hallelujah.

It was Emile Zola, a French novelist who said at a time, “If you shut up truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way.” This is exactly what happened at the resurrection of Jesus. The guards assigned to keep surveillance at His tomb saw the terrifying things that happened and exclaimed as written in Matt. 27:54, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

Like Apostle Paul expresses it in 1 Cor. 2:8, had Satan and his human stooge accomplices knew that Jesus’ matter would end gloriously as it eventually did, they wouldn’t have contemplated the idea of killing Him at the least, not to talk more of daring to crucify Him. Jesus Christ arose, He began to shine and will ever continue to shine in the light of His glory.

Beloved, there is ‘Victory on the Cross’. If Christ did not go to the cross, we wouldn’t be talking about the innumerable benefits of resurrection we are enjoying now; the song of victory which Christians worldwide are singing today wouldn’t have been, it would have instead been a dirge and songs of mockery from our enemies; we would have been the most miserable of all (1 Cor. 15:19).

But blessed be the God Almighty, the Super-Master-Strategist through whom this occasion is made possible. May we rejoice forever in Christ. Amen. Happy Easter. God bless you and all yours. SHALOM.

Prayer:
LORD, we worship and adore You for Your unfathomable wisdom by which You out-played Satan. Lord Jesus, we magnified Your name for the ultimate price you paid for our redemption. We pray this victory shall remain permanent with us as we continue to shine in the light of Your glory till Jesus comes. Amen.
