Text: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬).

Blessed be the LORD Almighty who in His infinite mercy continues to grant us the lease of life on the account of His unconditional love, His unfailing mercy and His surpassing grace that have been abounding for us without ceasing.

As we may know, courage is required to forge ahead in achieving anything good in life. It’s takes courage, determination to survive considering many negating odds, limiting factors that often stare at us in the face whichever direction we turn.

An Israeli statesman David Ben-Gurion observed: “Courage is a special kind of knowledge, the knowledge of how to fear what ought to be feared and how not to fear what ought not to be feared.” He said further “From this knowledge comes an inner strength that inspires us to push on in the face of great difficulty.” He concluded saying, “what can seem impossible is often possible with courage.”

The task Joshua faced as the successor of Moses to lead on the Israelite to the Promised Land wasn’t a simple one; it was an herculean and daunting task! God wasn’t unaware of this so He said what’s recorded in Joshua 1:9, today’s focal scripture, to stir up courage in Joshua.

Beloved, as we start the journey of the new month of May today, my charge to you is like it was for Joshua that regardless of the odds, regardless the sundry limiting factors particularly the ones not envisaged, that may come your way in the month, you should be strong-willed, be courageous that you will wade through them. God assured Joshua of His presence wherever he would go. In this same order, the LORD, our refuge and strength, the ever present help in unstable terrain, in troubled and uncertain times will be with you, with me and with our loved ones. Amen.

With courage, be determined that come what may in this month of May, you’ll survive it unscathed. The LORD who has brought you and me this far in life will not leave us nor for forsake us, so let’s not be afraid nor be dismayed. This month, the God of all possibilities will make our missions to be missions possible not missions impossible; surpassing Grace beyond human comprehension will abound and be sufficient for us in all situations this month and beyond in the name of Jesus. Amen and Amen. Happy new month. God bless you and all yours. SHALOM.
