Topic: Merciful God, pardon, forgive and blot out every sin that can hinder our blessings during this prayer season.
Texts: 1 John 1:8&9; Isaiah 59:1&2, 43:25.
EXPOSITION:
Following to the thanks and appreciation we have given to God in the first five days of this 40 days prayer program, the next onward step is to come to the throne of grace in humility, to plead for mercy concerning any sin, individual or corporate that can work against our prayers being granted, and thereby rob us of our desired blessings. Mercy of God will avail for us in this regard in the name of Jesus.
Because of our sinful nature as mortal beings, it would amount to acts of lying and deceit if we see ourselves as sinless before God. This is captioned in 1 John 1: 8&9: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
Thank God for Jesus through whom we receive forgiveness of our sins on the account of His atoning death on the cross. The righteous and just God is faithful to His word; because of what Jesus did, He will blot out our sins, and will remember them no more (Isaiah 43:25).
Beloved, our faithful Father is ready and willing to forgive our sins; His “…hand is not shortened that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear…” The sins and iniquities that has separated us from Him must be confessed for mercy and pardon to be received.
As we would, in humility and penitence come to God’s mercy seat today, may we receive pardon, may we obtain mercy and grace in this time of need in the name of Jesus. Amen. God bless you. SHALOM.
