Topic: LORD, we magnify Your name for making us to be more than conquerors.
Text: Psalm 34:1-3; Romans 8:37.
EXPOSITION:
“Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together” (Psalm 34:3).
Today, it is about magnifying the LORD and exalting His name for having made us to be more than conquerors.
Someone, out of sheer curiosity may want to know how and when we become ‘more than conqueror’. Here lies the answer, verse 37 of Romans 8 says, “Yet in all these, we are more than conquerors through Him (Jesus), who loved us.” The love of Jesus for us, that unconditional love that took Him to the cross at Calvary, where He paid the ultimate price for our redemption and salvation, this is the ground on which anyone who accepts Him as Lord and Saviour is entitled to the ‘more than conqueror’ title.
Therefore, the conquest we cannot achieve in battles by our mighty or power, the victories we cannot claim over principalities and power, Jesus, by the singular act of His sacrificial, willing death on the cross, did this for us once and for all (1 Cor. 15:57; Col. 2:15; Eph.1:21).
Another curious person may want to know why after this ‘once and for all’ act of Jesus we still engage in battles with human and nonhuman forces. I will say this is how we will be seen and known as ‘more than conqueror’ in that when these battles come, all we do is just to tap into the many spiritual resources, spiritual warfare weapons that have been provided for us in Jesus. We become victorious by unleashing this spiritual arsenal and having faith in their efficacy. (2 Cor. 10:3-5; Eph. 6:10-18).
May God open our understanding to who we are in Christ, to appreciate what Jesus has done for us and to continually magnify and exalt God more and better.
